The pieces within this first collection act as the outreached hand. They are pieces longing to connect with a particular person or group, where distance is not always defined physically.
In these instances, the work of the artist becomes the bridge, meeting their subject(s) where they already are in effort to preserve— their culture, their prominence in that time, memories shared together, etc.
Much of our existence is spent understanding the people before us and around us, as it then informs who we are. So we make our way to find these people, listening to a voice that may stir within us, getting as close to the source as possible.
