Anabella Zubillaga

El rey de pescado frito
clay, 2018

dimensions: 5” x 5”

El rey pescado frito
is a comical take on king of Venezuelan agricultural exports: fish. Following Zubillaga’s playful style of ceramics and pottery, this piece was inspired by her childhood memories, freezing this moment in time, and giving us a glimpse of her past associations towards iconic Venezuelan imagery and culture.

“This was an iconic logo on the coast of the main beach town in Caracas, so, if you are Venezuelan you know what this means! Beach time!” —A.Z.

Anabella was raised in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to NY when she was 20 in pursuit of a film career. She fell in love with animation and focused her career as a producer doing just that. In her free time she found herself doing anything possible with her hands, knitting, weaving, sewing and ceramics. She now focuses in ceramics and tufting and has an unique emphasis on creating FUN art- just for FUN.
